As the weather warms, the bee’s thoughts turn to swarming. Even though I have made my best effort to reduce the possibility, I found a swarm sitting on the cedar tree in front of the apiary last week. So I decided to try to capture the hiving process on video, enjoy!
Grubby goes a-blogging
Welcome to our totally redesigned website. Now I can blog! Hopefully, there will be enough interesting things happening on the farm to keep it fresh. At this time of year that shouldn’t be too hard. I’ve been splitting hives,
getting the gardens ready, enjoying all the daffodils, dogwoods and fruit trees. And, of course, working in the Grubby bunker making soaps and lip balms.
Welcome to grubbygirl.com!
Makers of hand-crafted soaps, salts, oils, and scrubs using all-natural botanicals grown locally on Meeting House Farm.
Spring has more than sprung here is Central Virginia. We must be at least a month ahead after a very mild winter. We are catching up making soaps & salts & scrubs while rushing around to keep up with the bees and the gardens.
The bees have started putting up honey and we are not-so-patiently awaiting for them to cap it so we can get the first taste of the 2012 honey crop! YUM!
If you are ever in Charlottlesville on a Saturday morning, stop by the market and try some of our granola. It is great with farm fresh strawberries and yoghurt.
